The Wilhaggin Del Dayo Neighborhood Association contracts with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department to provide our neighborhood patrols through the department’s Off-Duty Program.

The Off-Duty Program allows businesses and neighborhood associations like ours to hire off-duty deputies for law enforcement services. Our deputies are in uniform and abide by all the practices, policies and procedures of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department while patrolling for us. They patrol in official department vehicles, the presence of which has a powerful deterrent effect on criminals.

Our contract calls for 10, eight hour shifts each week and the patrol schedule sometimes varies. As part of our contract, we instruct our deputies to file written reports of their activities while on duty. We summarize these reports and send them out to members twice a month to keep members apprised of patrol activities.
